competitive employment. Supported
Employment offers the needed
support to assist an individual, who may not have been given employment
opportunities in the past, to complete the employment process by providing
a job coach who will work directly with the employee and the employer.
The support, both on and off the job,
may include jobe development, on-th-job traiing, supervision, skill
training, and/or social support for the employee. Support may also
be offered to assist the employer in equipping, training, and supervising
a new employee, as well as in restructuring a job to provide for greater
efficiency.
Once the employee has gained confidence
and is performing the job to the employer's specificiations, the job coach
